On July 31st, 2023, CHF held an inauguration event for the newly constructed patient waiting area at the Tho. Jedarpalayam Primary Health Center. This project was made possible through the generous contributions of the Laxmi Viswanathan family and the Collaborative Healthcare Foundation. Tho. Jedarpalayam is of particular importance to Laxmi because it's her maternal great-grandmother's hometown. Hundreds of sick patients and mothers with babies were waiting in the scorching summer heat and rain due to the lack of a covered waiting area. During her discussion with the doctors and the patients, the main concern was the lack of a waiting area for the patients and a space to conduct medical camps and awareness programs. This newly constructed waiting area solves the problem and provides ample space for the patients and camps. More than 200 villagers attended the inauguration. The doctors and nurses from this PHC and nearby village hospitals attended the event. These healthcare professionals helped support and facilitate the project, further emphasizing the collaborative nature of this achievement. This infrastructure addition played a role in building a sense of unity and community as the village came together for this remarkable project.
