This summer, I had the opportunity to work with the Collaborative Healthcare
Foundation (CHF) on a donation project for the Kanjikovil Primary Health Care Center in India. As a government-funded hospital, this PHC manages with limited resources, making it unreliable for the local community. I met with Chief Doctor Ramakrishnan and Medical Officer Baby. I learned about their problems with underfunding and the inability to provide proper treatment to patients. After hearing this, I helped arrange a donation by including pregnancy test kits,
stethoscopes, and basic medical equipment. The pregnancy kits were needed as, without them, women would need to travel long distances to other facilities to confirm pregnancy. This delay meant late prenatal checkups and added stress for mothers. Having these kits and other medical supplies available at the PHC will make it easier for patients to get the healthcare they deserve.
