Sholur PHC Equipment Donation - January 3, 2022

Last year, I had the great opportunity to visit the Primary Health Center, located in Sholur village in the Nilgiris district. I interviewed a doctor who worked at the facility and other villagers occupying the area. After these conversations, I realized the vast disparity between the type of resources and materials available to rural and urban health centers. I realized that this center greatly needed resources to treat patients. During the interviews, the villagers that had visited this center remarked that, during the pandemic, there was a marked absence of essential medical equipment required for effective care. The next time I had the chance to visit, I brought along with me some of the materials needed to provide this care. We donated materials such as stethoscopes, pressure monitors, and even chairs for the patient waiting area. These resources will provide more comfort and more effective medical care.
